Beginning Teachers of Self-defense

New instructors depend on their expertise in the fields of martial arts training, law enforcement and/or the military, or professional fields such as criminology, education, psychology, or women's studies (among others). Issues facing new instructors include: selecting and refining a program model; issues of business organization and/or affiliation; continuing professional education; facilitation of programs; selection of markets, and the all-important work of marketing. MLS supports new teacher members with materials on program organization and formats, handouts for students, skills inventories, and most-especially, our established, well-defined program model for teaching non-violence-based personal safety training.

Established and Senior Self-defense Instructors

Established teachers of self-defense have a foundation of skills and expertise with the above issues. Yet, full-time professionals in this field are rare. MLS can support your work through: affiliations and certification; networking; marketing and referrals, and publicity.
